How do I make the reservation?

Through our Online reservation form, a telephone call or  simply send us an e-mail with your preferences.

What does the insurance cover?

The basic insurance includes the following:

  • Theft Protection
  • Third Party Liability insurance

You can always choose to have fully comprehensive insurance (CDW). The Detectable Amount for Collision (CDW) is:

– 300 euros for Chevrolet Matiz, Hyundai i10, Suzuki Swift and Nissan Micra Automatic.

– 400 euros for all the other cars.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

A full price payment is required only for 1 day Rentals from Cruise ship rentals only! Deposit is not required for other regular rentals!

Is international driving license necessary?

No, Any driving license is valid as long as it is more than one-year-old. Any valid driving licence is ok. You don’t need international driving license. However we need driving Licence in Latin / English characters. So if you have Chinese driving Licence with Chinese characters you must have either an authorised translation or an international driving Licence.

Is there an age limit for a driver to hire a car?

You should be 22-years-old or older when you make the reservation.

Can I modify or cancel my reservation?

Yes you can do this online.

Are additional drivers permitted?

Certainly, additional drivers can use the car, free of charge. Just let us know before delivery.

Are child/baby seats available Free of Charge?

Child seats and Baby seats for all ages, are available for FREE!!! All you need to do is claim them upon booking.

Are cars with automatic gearbox available?

Yes, our fleet includes Smart, Nissan Micra and Hyundai Accent with automatic gearbox. We can also provide you with other automatic cars of your choice at your request!  

Can I prolong the duration of the car rental ?

Yes, as long as we have available the car and you inform us in sufficient time, especially during high season.

Pick up and delivery

How does identification proceed?

When you reach Santorini Island, a member from our team will be on the spot you asked to pick-up your car, holding a Big banner with your name. You should have your civil ID , your driving license and a credit card with you.

Does pick-up or drop-off take place beyond working hours?

You can pick up or drop off the rental car 24/7 . Nevertheless, a small fee applies for delivering or collections of the car for out of operational hours

Which are the pick-up and drop-off locations?

We deliver and collect the car anywhere in Santorini FREE of Charge.

Is there fuel in the car upon pick-up?

Yes, there is enough fuel. Upon drop-off, the rental car should have fuel at the same quantity as received.

Do I need to inspect the rental car before I collect it ?

We are going to inspect the car together and record any damage that were present before the rental.

During your Car Rental

What is the off-road driving policy?

The rental cars are to be used on asphalt road. Off-road drive is not allowed. You should NOT drive off the road!!

What do I do in case of car breakdown or accident?

SantoriniCarHire.com provides 24/7 roadside assistance. In case of car breakdown or accident, just give us a call and a team of experienced mechanical engineers will take care the rest.

Who is responsible to pay the traffic fines during the car rental?

You are responsible for the traffic fines during the rental. We take all the necessary steps to make sure that all our customers understand the laws and drive with safety in Santorini.

Car Return

Do I get reimbursed if I return the rental car earlier?

No, you don’t.

What if I delay the car drop-off?

You can contact us and we can arrange for you keeping the car longer, if it is available. You cannot keep the car more without  prior communication with our office. You will be charged the usual rates for extra days. In case of no early notice, extra charge applies.

Do I need to inspect the rental car before return?

Yes, you do. If you realise a problem, not present upon pick-up, you should inform us before drop-off..

Cruise Ships Rentals

What time I will pick up the car?

The average time between disembarkation and arriving at Fira town is between 1 to 1.5 hours.Cruise passengers are transported by small boats to the port and have to take the cable car to finally arrive at Fira town.

Please give us a call on +30 211 800 3693 as soon as you arrive at Fira port or town and we will deliver your car in 20 min. In case that you don’t have a mobile phone with you, you can give us a call from any shop around that area.

Where I will pick-up the car if I am coming with Cruise-ship?

Unfortunately we can’t access port area by car. Our representative will be waiting for you at the EXIT of the cable car, holding your name on our company board. The car will be located 5 min walk away from the meeting point.

Please note that the average time between disembarkation and arriving at Fira town is between 1 and 1.5 hours.Cruise passengers first transported by small boats to the port and after have to take the cable car to reach Fira town.

Please give us a call on +30 211 800 3693 as soon as you arrive at Fira port and we will deliver your car in 20 min. Where I will return the car?

You will return the car at the same location you received it.
