Santorini and Scuba Diving!!

A Whole new Underwater World to Discover!

Diving has become a popular sport in the recent times, and Santorini is a very special island, both above and below water!  The volcanic activity of the area can be seen on all dive sites, not just at the volcano. Divers tend to love the clear waters with great visibility, amazing underwater formations and fascinating marine life in the caves, on the walls and at the reefs. All dive sites are also ideal for snorkelers!

General Information:

The shallow waters are teeming with marine life and reveal spectacular underwater scenery, which is stunning in color and form. Groupers, colorful sponges, snappers, barracuda and schools of small and large fish at arm’s length provide one of the most exhilarating underwater experiences.

Volcano Diving:

The big volcanic explosion has created some magnificent underwater scenery, so Santorini has a lot of divers and many drop offs around the caldera and volcano area. At the dive sites around volcano you can see all the lava formations and find marine life such as lobsters, moray eels, clams and oysters hiding amongst the lava rocks.

Diving Courses:

Courses are offered for both certified divers as well as non-divers. Programs for certified divers include: wall dives, volcano dives, wreck, cave diving and PADI courses for all levels of certification. Programs for non-divers require no previous experience. The instruction does not take more than 30 minutes, during which time the beginners are briefed on how to use the equipment, the use of underwater hand signals and the basic scuba principles.

Requirements for Diving:

For Certified Divers: A valid diving certificate from any recognized authority is required. They will also ask you to complete a medical evaluation form.

For Non-divers: There are variety of activities and courses for non-divers, too.  In this case you simply have to complete the medical evaluation form.

Snorkeling:

If you like experiencing the underwater world without having to put on dive gear or learn how to dive – then snorkeling is for you. We arrange daily snorkeling safaris by boat around the island of Santorini visiting two or three different sites. The scenery varies from dramatic reef and cliff formations, to volcanic areas, caves, underwater canyons and sea grass beds with a rich variety of marine life. Of course you will have an Instructor or Dive master guiding, supervising and helping those of you who are not very familiar with snorkeling already.
